West Elm Bedding and a Crazy Good Deal

So, remember the new bedding I ordered from West Elm a little while ago? Well, I haven't showed it to you yet because when I got it I wasn't loving it. It wasn't the actual bedding that I didn't love, it was how it looked on my bed that wasn't working. We have a california king bed. Many times on king beds you see three euro pillows but I have always just had two euro pillows on my bed and I liked it.

Well, when my duvet cover and two euro shams arrived I wasn't digging the two pillows and realized that it was because of the horizontal stripes on the duvet. They were visually making the bed seem wider, therefore making the pillows look smaller.

So, I went back to the West Elm website to look into getting another sham. When I bought the first two shams they were on sale for $12.99 but now they were $19.99. They were still on sale from the original $24.99 price, but with tax and shipping I was looking at $28 just for the sham, and I was still going to have to purchase a pillow insert. I was not happy about that, so I thought I would just wait it out and hope that someday they would go back to the $12.99 price. I had been checking for a couple weeks when I realized I should try my local Downeast Home. For those of you who don't know what Downeast Home is (it is a Idaho and Utah thing) they are kind of like a home outlet store. They sell either showroom floor items or slightly damaged items from stores like Pottery Barn, West Elm, Restoration Hardware, and such. You can find some pretty great deals there. I bought my Pottery Barn Wingback Seagrass Chair there for $125 where it normally sells for $499!! Anyway, so to finish my story, I went to Downeast Home thinking that finding a West Elm Parachute Euro Sham in Feather Gray would probably be a long shot, but lo and behold there it was!! The price was normally $11.99 but it was on sale for $6!!  BUT when I went to purchase it, I found out that all their clearance was an additional 20% off!! So total with tax it as $5.08!!! That is amazing compared to the $28 I would have spent getting it from West Elm. I then found a pillow insert at a local fabric store for $14.99. I am so thrilled with my find!! So finally, after my long story, this is how it looks,

I still need to get some accent pillows and add a little color or something. Not sure exactly what yet, but I really like it! And just in case anyone is interested, the West Elm - Stripe Duvet in Feather Gray matches the Feather Gray - Parachute Duvet Cover Shams. If you look really closely, the gray is slightly different, but it doesn't bother me. I think the Parachute Shams are less modern looking  than the matching striped shams. I like them better in my space. I'm happy with my purchase!

We had some crazy wind here in Idaho yesterday! It knocked down an entire tree in the park down the street from us, and it obliterated the shutters on the side of our house. They were in pieces all over our driveway and street. I'll have to take some pics.

Dreamy Dining Room

I saw this dining room from A'lamode a while ago and I have been obsessed with it ever since!

Isn't it fabulous? Someday, when I have a bigger dining room, I am definitely going to find a little upholstered settee like the one in this room. Ideally, it would be great to find a cheap used one that I could recover, but I found a few inexpensive new ones that could work.

Overstock: $251.99

Home Decorators: $239

This one from World Market is a little more pricey, $449.00, but beautiful!

Target has a lot of great options.
Like this: $359.99

And this one for $249.99. I really like this soft blue color.

They even have a chevron one for $423.99. It also comes in green and in a larger black chevron print.

It's always fun to dream a little.

Anyone Looking to Buy A Home...?

I hope everyone had a wonderful Valentine's Day. I know I did. My husband spoiled me too much this year. On another note, my sister and her husband are selling their adorable 1930's home in Idaho Falls and I wanted to share it with you in case anyone out there is interested. It's a great house with lots of character.

It's been well taken care of and loved. It's has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, an office, and an unfinished basement that could easily be finished. There are lots of big windows and natural light. The living room has a fabulous coved ceiling.

The home has great archways and fun features like this cute dining nook.

My sister has done many updates including newly painted kitchen cabinets, new countertops, and tile backsplash.

Now is such a great time to purchase a house, and this is listed at a fabulous price. For more pictures and information check out the listing.

Clothespin Texture Ball

My friend from design school came up with a fun little group project. Our first semester of school in our Design Basics class we had to do a texture ball project. We could use anything we could think of to create a ball with visual texture. So along with my other classmates we decided to do this project again.

Here is what a started with. A paper mache ball and some clothespins.

I painted the ball and glued the clothespins randomly on it.

The clothespins make the ball versatile. Since Valentine's Day is coming up I decided to add a theme to my ball by clipping some paper hearts and the word "Love" to the clothespins.

And then for a different look I just clipped a bunch of random letters to the ball.

It looks pretty good on my entry table next to my lettered ceramic balls in my apothecary jars.

Now here's what some of the other ladies came up with, and be sure to check out their blogs to find out all the details.

Baby Boy

My sister and her husband just found out they are expecting a boy! Now, this is really big news for our family. I have 3 sisters and no brothers, and my daughter was the first grandchild. So, we don't really know what to do with boys. But, as soon as I heard the news I, of course, started thinking about baby boy nurseries. Here are some cute ones I have come across lately.

Wedding Weekend

Wow, I have been MIA for awhile. I've been busy with projects, which is good, but lately it has been a little overwhelming. I get stressed out easily, as my husband will attest to. :) But we were able to have a fun little vacation this last weekend with family. My beautiful sister-in-law was married on Saturday. As always, it was great to spend time with family. The wedding decorations were beautiful. Sadly, I didn't take any pictures (our camera was too big to fit in our luggage). But I thought I would share her wedding colors since I LOVED them!

They were coral, teal, aqua, and gray. Aren't they so fun! We made coordinating coral skirts for the nieces. Here was E's outfit:

All the sisters wore gray dresses and the men wore gray slacks. It was a wonderful day! I'm so happy for my sister-in-law and new brother-in-law.
